Ceftriaxone 1 gm (as sodium) per vial, for IM/IV use.

Indication
Treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections, including pneumonia, septicemia, meningitis, skin/soft tissue infections, abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, bone/joint infections, gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, surgical prophylaxis.
Dosage
As directed by physician; typical adult dose 1–2 gm once daily IM/IV, depending on severity and location of infection; dosage adjusted for age, weight, and renal function.
Side Effects & Precautions
Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling), diarrhea, rash, increased liver enzymes, allergy (anaphylaxis), abnormal blood counts, headache, nausea, rarely serious intestinal or kidney problems.
Precautions: Contraindicated in allergy to cephalosporins/penicillins, severe liver/kidney disease, neonates requiring calcium IV; monitor for hypersensitivity and superinfection; avoid mixing with calcium-containing solutions; use in pregnancy/breastfeeding only if necessary.
