Indication
Control and prevention of excessive bleeding in conditions such as surgery (dental, prostate, bladder), trauma, heavy menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, obstetric/gynaecological bleeding, post-partum hemorrhage, and bleeding disorders (hemophilia).
Dosage
As directed by physician; typically 500 mg IV, repeated according to severity and clinical response; rate and dilution should follow hospital protocols—must be administered by a healthcare professional.
Side Effects & Precautions
Injection site reactions, tiredness, musculoskeletal pain, nasal congestion, headache, diarrhea, rarely allergic reaction, vision changes, or blood clots (venous or arterial thrombosis).
Precautions: Avoid in patients with active thromboembolic disease, history of blood clots, severe renal failure, known allergy to tranexamic acid, subarachnoid hemorrhage; monitor vision and report changes immediately; use with caution in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and with other prothrombotic medicines.
